"A leopard cannot change its spots. First off, Mr. James Bascue and I have known each other personally before he ever became a judge, much less, the Presiding Judge of Los Angeles. This goes back about twenty years ago when I considered him somewhat a friend. His background is a retired military officer who thereafter joined the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office wherein he ascended through the ranks to become the Chief Deputy just under the District Attorney. Basically, Bascue became in charge of every decision made in the largest District Attorney's Office in the country. I have sat in his District Attorney's Office and personally talked with him.
I thereafter have called Bascue on the witness stand in administrative proceedings wherein he refused to answer to the faithfulness of the very document he himself presented as evidence. The embarrassment became so apparent that the administrative hearing officer had to cover for him. I was forbidden from cross-examining him on the contents of his very own document he relied upon, showing him to be a liar.
He thereafter was promoted to Superior Court Judge, and then Assistant Presiding Judge. His Office was located exactly next door to the Los Angeles County Grand Jury. If you are getting the idea that this editor now holds contempt for Bascue on the basis of his corrupt ethics, you are correct. Now, he is attempting to come across to the public as one seeking to create a "friendlier and kinder judicial system in the community." My judgment is that you will find that his subject judges will not be able to stand the heat of being closer to the public as they have no intent of changing their ways from an inhuman monster to a human being. These judges still believe they are supernatural gods, and "getting closer to the public" will not change that pompous attitude. Anyone have any money to lay on Bascue's "kinder and more gentler judges?" Yes, Mr. Bascue, this is Ron Branson, your long-time friend - remember me?"
