Thomas Edward Chrisler

In re Thomas Edward Chrisler, 98 CH 58, M.R. 16097 (Ill., Sept. 29, 1999). Attorney Chrisler, who was registered in 1991, was suspended for two years retroactive to August 21, 1998, the date of his interim suspension, and he was ordered to complete a course on ethics offered by the Illinois Professional Responsibility Institute. While serving as a Cook County Assistant Public Defender, he took a $1,500 fee from an indigent client's family although, as a public defender, he was prohibited from charging a client any fee. Because of this conduct, he was convicted of Class A misdemeanor theft and was sentenced to two years probation, one year community service, and was also ordered to stop practicing law during the term of his probation. He currently works for a telecommunications company in Phoenix, Arizona.



Mr. Chrisler is under orders not to practice law in any manner.  This includes not only not appearing in court, but also not providing any legal advice to anyone, whether in the State of Illinois, the State of Arizona, or any State.
