A $25 million legal malpractice lawsuit has been filed against Corboy & Demetrio, one of Chicago's best-known personal-injury law firms, alleging lawyers in the firm botched a case brought on behalf of the family of a Georgia woman who was killed and her two daughters injured in a car crash in 1995.
The suit, filed Thursday in Will County Circuit Court, charges that Corboy lawyer G. Grant Dixon III, who has since left the firm, and Robert Bingle, the firm's managing partner, failed to preserve the damaged vehicle and to investigate the possibility the wreck was caused by a defect in the car or its tires.
The lawsuit filed over the accident was later dismissed because Dixon failed to obey court orders. Dixon, now practicing law in LaGrange, declined to comment.
