Mr. James Grogan Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois One Presidential Plaza 130 E. Randolph Drive Suite 1500 Chicago, IL 60601-6219December 18, 2000
Dear Mr. Grogan,
I am filing charges of misconduct against Ms. Elizabeth Granoff for violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct in accordance with Article I Rule 2. (a) Misconduct. Misconduct is behavior which violates the Illinois Code of Professional Responsibility or which tends to defeat the administration of justice or to bring the Courts or legal profession into disrepute. In accordance with Rule 8.4.4, A lawyer shall not engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation.
I am requesting that an investigation be conducted in order to reveal why Ms. Granoff participated in a scheme with Attorney Catherine Bremer to conceal violations of Supreme Court Rules and deliberately overlooked Ms. Bremer's omitted answers to specific charges in violation of SCR 233, Answer to be specific. The answer shall specifically admit or deny each allegation of the complaint. Every allegation not specifically denied is deemed admitted unless the answer states the reason the respondent is unable to make a specific denial. While I'm certain that the ARDC cannot be bothered with Supreme Court Rules, direct violations of these rules would expressly violate Article 1 Rule 2.
I request an investigation as to why Ms. Granoff refused to consider follow-up written requests that specific allegations be addressed. To ignore the behavior of this attorney makes void the Rules of Professional Conduct, none of which are Ms. Granoff's to redress or ignore to meet her agenda, nor that of her co-conspirator, Catherine Bremer. As a representative of the ARDC, Ms. Granoff ignored the rules she professes to champion. Her behavior appears deliberate, wanton and violates Article 1 Rule 2.
As the evidence will show, after receiving Ms. Bremer's answer to my allegations, I forwarded my response (included) and point for point asked that each charge be answered as directed by the ARDC. In Ms. Granoff's reply, she told me that the case had been closed and she found no evidence of misconduct.
Since Ms. Granoff refused to demand that Ms. Bremer answer direct accusations addressed in my complaint and closed the case without following ARDC procedures, Ms. Granoff along with Ms. Bremer have put in place a set of rules that contradict those of Illinois Code of Professional Responsibility. Once again, Ms. Granoff, in violation of these rules is in violation of Article 1 Rule 2.
Immediately after receiving Ms. Granoff's response, I sent her a 2nd letter (copy included) addressing each of these allegations. Since Ms. Granoff is in a position to ignore her own misconduct, I never received her reply. I recently learned that you have some jurisdiction in the ARDC and thought you might personally handle this charge since Ms. Granoff has refused to acknowledge my request for more than one year. Please make me aware of why direct questions were not answered and why no follow-up regarding my 2nd complaint and the new charges I made were ignored.
I look forward to your response in this complaint.
Sincerely,
Dan Giordano
