Gitlin, Haaff & Kasper
H. Joseph Gitlin, Chris H. Haaff, Thomas J. Kasper,
Sara L. Busche, Michael R. Stetler

It has been reported to CLR that the law firm of Gitlin, Haaff & Kasper, and their attorneys, H. Joseph Gitlin, Chris H. Haaff, Thomas J. Kasper, Sara L. Busche, Michael R. Stetler, have engaged in fraud upon their clients and upon the Court.

Illinois law holds that fraud, by any officer of the Court, is any deception, or anything calculated to deceive, whether it be a single act or combination of circumstances, whether the suppression of truth or the suggestion of what is false, whether it be by direct falsehood or by innuendo, by speech or by silence, by word of mouth or by look or gesture. Fraud vitiates all transactions touched by it.

In their retainer agreement, the statement is made that "Our billing to you will be considered final and indisputable 30 days after receipt of billing." The attorneys knew, or should have known, if they were competent and ethical attorneys, that this statement is contrary to Illinois law, and therefore was meant to mislead their clients and was deceptive and fraudulent.
