NOTICE OF REPRIMAND

1) Reprimand;
2) Effective May 6, 1994.
Respondent failed to answer the formal complaints but appeared
at the hearing held in Lansing on February 10, 1994. Respondent's
default was entered, and the panel determined that the defaults
established the allegations of the formal complaints.
Respondent was retained by the defendant in a criminal matter
to represent her at sentencing and to pursue an appeal of her
conviction. Respondent failed to file a Motion for New Trial until
nine months after his client's sentencing; filed a defective and
untimely Claim of Appeal which was returned by the Court; failed to
comply with the Court of Appeals' direction to correct the
defective and untimely Claim of Appeal, which resulted in dismissal
of the appeal; submitted a defective Application for Delayed
Appeal; and failed to respond to his client's inquiries.
Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR
9.104(1)-(4)and(7); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct
1.1(a)-(c); 1.2; 1.3; 1.4; 3.2; 8.1(b); and 8.4(a)and(c).
Costs were assessed in the amount of $335.86.
