Dear Editor:
In his January 17, 2001 press conference announcing the plea bargain accepted by Dean Bauer, U.S. Attorney Scott Lassar stated that Dean Bauer was "someone in law enforcement [who] was so derelict in their duty and in obstructing an investigation they were supposed to be pursuing that it amounted to a crime".
Article VI, clause 3, of the United States Constitution, states, in pertinent part, that "all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution".
The act of any judge to violate a person's First, Third, Due Process, and/or Fifth Amendment Rights, or to permit such violation to occur, is an attack upon the Constitution, and is a crime.
The failure of U.S. Attorney Scott Lassar to prosecute judges who violate their Constitutional duties amounts to a crime.
Yours truly,
Citizens for Legal Responsibility
