April 5, 2000 Janet Reno U.S. Attorney General Department of Justice 10th St. & Constitution Ave., N.W. Washington, DC 20530Dear Ms. Reno:
We have read about U.S. Attorney Emily M. Sweeney, of the Northern District of Ohio, indicting judges who have taken bribes.
Perhaps you can order her to train U.S. Attorney Scott Lassar, of the Northern District of Illinois, in how to bring indictments against judges who take bribes in this community.
Mr. Lassar, instead of bringing charges of the taking of bribes by judges, shares the same bed. Mr. Lassar brings charges of bribery against Chicago alderman (as he should), but presents these crooked politicians before judges who have also taken bribes.
Has Mr. Lassar entered into an agreement with the judges not to prosecute them for taking bribes if they will manipulate the court proceeding to convict the bribe-taking politicians?
Mr. Lassar has brought disrepute to the Department of Justice.
Yours truly,
Rob Sheridan
