In an article in the August 30, 2000 issue of the Chicago Sun-Times, pg. 24, there is related a situation where Judge Veronica Mathein of the Cook County Illinois Circuit Court again issues a void order.
According to the Illinois Supreme Court Rule 62(A), a judge must respect and know the law. But incompetent Judge Mathein believes that she makes the law, not the Illinois legislature or the Illinois Supreme Court. She continues to place herself above the law.
Judge Mathein issued an order without jurisdiction. To make matters even worse, Judge Mathein ordered that the record of the case be changed, i.e. be falsified, in violation of the law. She then ordered the deputy clerk of the Circuit Court assigned to her courtroom, to back-date an order. The Cook County Circuit Court Clerk’s Code of Ethics prohibits clerks from back-dating documents. By ordering the deputy clerk to back-date an order, Judge Mathein ordered another party to join her in her unlawful action. Judge Veronica Mathein should know better, but this is not the first time that Judge Mathein has acted contrary to law.
CLR had reported Judge Mathein previously for unlawful tampering with court records and for other unlawful acts, see our web-pages for more information.
Another judge who has no respect for the law.
