The charges include collection of an unreasonable fee, failure to refund promptly any part of a fee paid in advance that has not been earned, failure to promptly deliver to the client any funds that the client is entitled to receive, failure to act with reasonable diligence and promptness in representing a client, failure to keep a client reasonable informed about the status of a matter and to promptly comply with reasonable requests for information, failure to render a full accounting upon request by the client, failure to deliver to the client all papers and property to which the client is entitled, conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation, faulure to render a full accounting upon request by the client and failure to promptly deliver to a third person property that person is entltled to receive.

Upon reading the March 13, 1997 complaint against attorney Caryl Jacobs Gabe, a former client of Gabe & Gabe Associates filed a 31 count charge against Gabe.

CLR understands that at least one new set of charges of misconduct has been filed against attorney Caryl Jacobs Gabe since she was disciplined by the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. These charges include, but are not limited to, failure to communicate, making false statements to her client, and improper billing practices.
Will she be disciplined again?
CLR questions whether attorney discipline by the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission is effective. Apparently not.
CLR had predicted above that she would engage in misconduct in the future. Apparently CLR was correct.
