Illinois is notorious for convicting innocent people of crimes that they have not committed. For political reasons, states attorneys need to make convictions - it doesn't matter if the people convicted are innocent or not. Usually the states attorney is using his position as a stepping stone to another political position. You are only a pawn in their path for power.
It can happen to you. It has happened to the following people:
Kenneth Ellsworth Adams Joe Burrows Joseph Briggs Robert Brown Perry Cobb Rolando Cruz Walter Fowler Gary Gauger Alejandro Hernandez Elton Houston Verneal Jimerson Ronald Jones Carl Lawson Jesse Lucas Margaret Lucus Joseph Majczek Steve Manning Theodore Marcinkiewicz Tony Marino Wilber McDonald Lloyd Eldon Miller, Jr James Newsome Henry Olson Anthony Porter Heywood Pugh William Rainge Ralph Reno Steven Smith Michael J. Synon Darby Tillis Ernest Wallace Dennis Williams Herman ZajicekThe above list of people are the lucky ones. They were not executed before they were found innocent. How many people were executed but were innocent? How many people are incarcerated today in Illinois and Federal prisons who are not guilty?
