Evelyn dove-Coleman
On June 26, 2003, the Disciplinary Hearing Commission of the
North
Carolina State Bar entered an order disbarring former Kinston attorney Evelyn dove-Coleman. The
commission found that, among other things, dove-Coleman used a
power of attorney to obtain client property for her own use and
misappropriated funds belonging to an estate.
The following listing was found on the Internet:
A former Orange County attorney has been arrested for
fraudulently
obtaining the power of attorney over two of UNC's first black
professors and stealing approximately $155,000 from the couple and
their estate in 1999. Evelyn
Dove-Coleman was disbarred by the North
Carolina State Bar and lost a civil suit on the matter, but this is the
first time criminal charges have been brought.
