Judge Timothy C. Evans files false, fraudulent and misleading statements under oath
Citizens for Legal Responsibility has learned that Presiding Judge Timothy C. Evans, Domestic Relations Court, Cook County, has filed false, fraudulent, and misleading Statements of Economic Interests with the Illinois Supreme Court.
Each and every judge in Illinois must file, by April 30th of each year, a Statement of Economic Interests, which must include all members of his immediate family (spouse and children living at home).
A copy of Judge Timothy C. Evans' Statement of Economic Interests filed on April 30, 1998 is available from our website on the Internet at <http://www.clr.org/evans-economic-interests.html>.
Judge Timothy C. Evans wife, Dr. Thelma Evans, is a physician at Michael Reese Hospital. At least one of the errors in Judge Evans' Statement of Economic Interests is that the judge did not list the income of his wife in his Statement of Economic Interests, a mandatory requirement of the law.
Further, Judge Evans signed the Statement and verified (considered to be under oath) that the information in the Statement is true, correct and complete.
If a party before Judge Evans filed such a verified document and Judge Evans found that the party had lied, what would Judge Evans do to the party, place him in jail?
Judge Evans has committed perjury! Judge Evans knows that, under Illinois law, any attempt by a lawyer (Judge Evans is a lawyer) to deceive, whether by commission, by omission, by silence, by look, or by gesture is fraud.
Judge Evans has engaged in fraud upon the Illinois Supreme Court and the people of the State of Illinois.
Did Judge Evans intentionally leave his wife off of the Statement of Economic Interests because there has been, and is currently, before him in his courtroom a divorce action wherein Dr. Lewis Blumenthal, a physician on the staff of Michael Reese Hospital, and an admitted wife and child abuser, is associated with his wife, Dr. Thelma Evans? Citizens suggests that Judge Evans has a conflict of interest in this case, and may have been improperly influenced by his wife in this divorce action.
Since Dr. Blumental's yearly income is approximately $500,000., it would be reasonable to assume that Dr. Thelma Evans's income is approximately $500,000. per year. Citizens suggests that the failure of Judge Timothy C. Evans to list Dr. Thelma Evans' income is not a minor mistake in a statement that is required to be true, correct, and complete.
