"LAWYERS PROTEST BAN ON GIFTS TO JUDGES"
Citizens highly recommends that you read the article in Wednesday's, December 30, 1998, issue of the Chicago Sun-Times, page 17, titled "Lawyers protest ban on gifts to judges".
Citizens has obtained a copy of the complaint filed by the Illinois State Bar Association challenging the application of the "State Gift Ban Act" as it applies to judges. The "State Gift Ban Act" prohibits the giving of gifts to any public official. Apparently the State Bar Association demands the right to bribe judges (who are by law state officers, and therefore are public officials).
A judge has ruled that the portion of the Act as it applies to judges is unconstitutional. It is now lawful for attorneys to continue to bribe judges.
